    Why we're asking you to set up your access

    My Account is a new system that gives you better features and tools for managing your personal and small business accounts online. Even though you already have an online account with us, you must sign in and set up My Account to take advantage of these new benefits.

    • It’s easy.

      If you already have an online account with us, simply sign in using your existing email address and password, and follow the prompts. You’ll then receive an email from us to verify your My Account registration. Be sure to follow the prompts to start taking advantage of My Account. 
        
      To register a new account, simply click on REGISTER NEW ACCOUNT within the sign in box and complete three simple steps. You’ll then receive an email from us to verify your My Account registration. Be sure to follow the prompts to start taking advantage of My Account.
    • If you’re having trouble signing in and setting up My Account, please try clearing your browser history and cookies for our site. Check out our Browser Troubleshooting site for a list of browsers and steps to clear your history for optimal use of our website.



    • We apologize that we are currently unable to process payment arrangements online. We are working hard to restore this option for with an improved system. In the meantime, we are providing another way for residential customers to set up payment arrangements. Simply call 800.700.8744 and follow the instructions for our automated phone system:

      • From the main menu, select option 2 for Billing & Payments
      • Then select option 2 for accounts and payment information or to request extra time to pay your bill
      • Once you have finalized your payment arrangement in the system, remain on the line to receive your confirmation number, which serves as verification that your payment arrangement has been scheduled in our system. No additional action is required on your part.




    • My Account makes it easier to manage your account from any device, with a clear, easy-to-follow design, better data and offers just for you. Learn more about the features and benefits.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • My Account is a completely new system that gives you better ways to manage your personal and small business accounts online. Unfortunately, you cannot access these new benefits unless you set up your access to My Account.
    • It’s easy. Simply sign in to your account using your existing username and password. Then follow the prompts to: 
      • Verify your existing email address and password
      • Enter and confirm a new password
      • Choose either a 4 digit PIN or security question
      • Accept the Terms & Conditions 
      • Check your email for a validation link
      • Use the link to sign in to My Account for the first time
      Once you’ve set up My Account, you will no longer use your prior online account. You will only use My Account and the password you have chosen for it.
    • The validation link is only good for 21 days. If it has been longer than 21 days since you received the email, you must start the process over. Please go to duke-energy.com and sign in using your original email address and password. You will then follow the same process again to receive a new email and validation link.
    • After registering with My Account, you will need to validate your email address. To do this, we will send an email to the email address you provided during registration. Follow the prompts in the email to Sign In with your email address and password. That’s all there is to it.  

      If you have not validated your email address, you will receive a reminder to do so after seven days and again after 14 days. If you have not validated your email address after 21 days, your profile will be deleted and you will have to re-register. If you need further assistance, please contact Customer Service.
    • For your security, we offer two ways for you to verify your identity in case you forget your username or password. One method you may choose is the four-digit PIN, or personal identification number. Choose a four-digit number you can remember or access if necessary. This should not be confused with the PIN on your bill.
    • It’s easy to add additional accounts to your My Account profile. Follow these simple steps:
      1. Sign in.
      2. Navigate to IN THIS SECTION in the upper right corner.
      3. Within the Manage My Account section, select ADD ACCOUNT.
      4. Provide the account number you want to manage and one of the following options: Last 4 digits of your Social Security number, Federal Tax ID number or date of birth.
      Please Note: All accounts that match the same data will be automatically added to your profile.
    • The account number will be removed from your profile after 12 months.

    • You can sign up to receive several different alerts including Outage Alerts, by following these steps:
      1. Sign in.
      2. Navigate to IN THIS SECTION in the upper right corner.
      3. Within the Manage My Account section, select ALERTS.
      4. Outage Alerts will be available  as an option, along with other alert programs Duke Energy offers.
    • Because an email address is considered your username, when you change the email address for your profile, this new email address will be your username moving forward. Please follow these simple steps:
      1. Sign in. 
      2. Navigate to IN THIS SECTION in the upper right corner.
      3. Within the Manage My Account section, select MANAGE ACCOUNT.
      4. Within the Email category, select Edit and follow the steps to change your email address.
      5. We will send an email to the email address you provide.  Please be sure to follow the steps to validate your email address.  
      Please Note:  You must complete step 5 for your new email address/username to take effect.
    • It’s easy to change your password by following these steps:
      1. Sign in.  
      2. Navigate to IN THIS SECTION in the upper right corner.
      3. Within the Manage My Account section, select MANAGE ACCOUNT.
      4. Select PROFILE and select EDIT next to Password value and follow the steps to change your password.
